Application Portal

10/05/2010 // Application Portal is an online portal where you can register your visa application to Norway. It replaces the Schengen application form, and makes the visa application process more efficient for both the Embassy and the applicants. All visa applications to the Norwegian embassy in Cote d’Ivoire must be submitted through Application Portal.

Why use Application Portal:
If you apply at the Norwegian embassy in Cote d’Ivoire (and not through a consulate) it is obligatory to use it.

Furthermore, Application Portal simplifies the visa application process both for the embassy and the applicants:

  • Registration of application is electronic, which eases and shortens the submission of documents at the Embassy
  • Payment is made online with a debit/credit card instead of at the Embassy, which saves time when submitting documents at the Embassy
  • Booking of an appointment at the Embassy is done directly by the applicant, who can choose among available hours set by the Embassy

How to use Application Portal
In order to apply through Application Portal, you need the following:

  • A user account on Application Portal
A user account is created the first time you launch application portal. Guide to how to create a user account
  • All information asked for, (same as in regular Schengen visa application form)
All mandatory fields in the application must be filled in order to complete the registration. Remember to always fill in all information demanded if applicable, even if it is not mandatory.
  • Credit card (VISA, MasterCard, AmericanExpress)
Without a valid credit card, the payment cannot be made and the application will not be registered.

After payment is confirmed, you make the booking and print a cover letter. The cover letter must be signed and submitted at the Embassy. It replaces the Schengen application form, which you do not have to submit.

Payment online
In order to complete the application, it is compulsory to pay online using a credit/debit card. The application will not be registered until the payment is confirmed.

Answers to frequently asked questions about payment online:
I do not have a valid card, what do I do?
You have two options
a) Contact your bank to obtain a credit/debit card
b) Have someone else to register the application and pay for you (e.g. the inviting part in Norway)

I should be exempted from the application fee, what do I do?
You have to pay in order to get the application through the system. The Embassy will decide upon reception of documents whether you are exempted from the visa fee. If so, the fee paid will be reimbursed electronically.

The payment was refused in the system, but the bank says that the transfer has been made?
The Embassy can check whether the money is received in our system. If it is, we will find a solution. If not, it will have to be solved between you and your bank.

Is paying online safe?
Yes, in general it will be safe as or safer than carrying cash and paying bills in the bank. The site is run by the Norwegian government and can be trusted.

I am asked for the CVC-code. What is it?
The CVC code is the 3 last digits of the number you find on the back of your card. (Note: It is not the card number).

Is it possible to get an appointment at the Embassy even if the payment did not go through?
No. If you have problems with your card, contact your bank. If you are still unable to solve the problem, contact the Embassy.

Booking online
After payment is confirmed, you get access to the Embassy’s calendar, where you can choose between available appointment times. In cases of urgency where there are no suitable times available, please contact the Embassy.
