On Wednesday 28 April, Minister Counsellor Thorvald Boye of the Norwegian Embassy opened the construction of the Women and Children Protection (WACP) unit at the Liberia National Police Headquarter in Monrovia.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Eric Amblard, Liberia National Police Inspector General; Mr. Gautam Sawang, United Nations Police Commissioner; Mr. Dominic Sam, UNDP Country Director; and representatives of LNP, UNOPS (the implementing agency) and the Norwegian Police Contingent in Liberia. Norway’s investment in the construction of the WACP unit at the LNP Headquarter in Monrovia is motivated by the priorities for development cooperation that has been agreed between Liberia and Norway, and comes in addition to the construction of similar units for the protection of women and children at 10 regional police headquarters in Liberia.
