Visitor's visa
You may obtain a visitor's visa if you intend to travel to Norway as a tourist, on a family visit, on public business or a business trip, a study visit or other business which does not require a work or residence permit.
A visa for Norway and the rest of the Schengen area has a maximum duration of three months. The visa cannot be extended once the holder has entered the Schengen area. Exemptions may be granted only if unforeseen circumstances occur after your arrival in the Schengen area, and your original visa was issued for less than three months. Nevertheless, the total time of stay in the Schengen area may not exceed three months.
When you apply for a visa, the following documents must be submitted together with your application:
• Application form with (passport) photograph
• Passport
• Invitation from a Norwegian reference
• Documentation of family relationship (if the reference is a family member)
• Guarantee form from your reference
Documentation requirements vary from country to country and are subject to change.
You should submit your application in person at the nearest Norwegian foreign service mission.
If you wish to study, work or remain resident in Norway with your spouse/family, you must apply for a study permit or a work permit.
For more information, you may contact the Norwegian foreign service mission closest to you or see the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration's website www.udi.no.
